Cathy MacRae, Social Media Strategist, Savvy Social Slayers
Cathy MacRae is a dynamic entrepreneur and seasoned wedding planner, combining over 15 years of teaching experience with her passion for the wedding industry. Since transitioning from education to founding Creative Weddings Planning & Design in 2008, Cathy has become a leading figure in weddings across Calgary and the Canadian Rockies, attracting clients globally. Her expertise extends to social media and marketing, where she excels in helping solopreneurs over 40 craft impactful brand strategies and an appealing online presence without the overwhelm. As the founder and social media strategist for Savvy Social Slayers, Cathy empowers wedding professionals and small business owners with actionable marketing techniques, advocating for effective social media practices balanced by self-care. Her insights have gained recognition at local workshops and international conferences, where she frequently speaks on digital marketing, branding, and strategies for effectively utilizing AI. Cathy's commitment to the wedding and event industry is evident. She most recently completed her role as Vice President of Communications and social media manager for the Association of Bridal Consultants. She currently serves as the Director of Operations for the Alberta International Band Festival, and works closely with the Calgary Performing Arts Festival, also doing social media management for both. She holds the distinguished title of Canada's only Master Wedding Planner™, accredited by The Association of Bridal Consultants in 2022. Beyond her professional achievements, Cathy finds joy in exploring tropical destinations, enjoying culinary adventures, and cherishing time with her family and friends. Her unique blend of skills continues to inspire and guide aspiring entrepreneurs toward success.
