Eric Drewry, Director of Protection Services, Detroit Institute of Art
Eric Drewry is the Director of Protection Services at the Detroit Institute of Arts and the owner and CEO of Drewry Consulting Group, LLC. With nearly 20 years’ experience in safety, security, and emergency planning and preparedness at some of the nation’s top cultural institutions, Eric specializes in finding innovative ways to solve complex challenges. From protecting billions of dollars in art in a museum touted by The Wall Street Journal as “the world’s most visitor-friendly”, to securing naturalization ceremonies at one of the nation’s most iconic Presidential homes, Eric recognizes that planning and preparation are the keys to success – and survival. As a certified instructor through the ALICE Training Institute, Eric provides the leading active shooter civilian response training in the United States. Additional professional certifications include Certified Protection Professional (CCP) through the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) and Certified Institutional Protection Manager through the International Foundation for Cultural Property Protection (IFCPP). Eric holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Grand Valley State University.
