As catering began to emerge in the new post-pandemic environment in 2022, staffing shortages continued to cripple the industry, with many hourly workers having found work in other industries during the height of the pandemic. Even as they trickled back, things were not the same as they were in 2019 - especially given the extra demand from an events backlog. It was, in short, quite a year. What has changed and what continues to evolve?
With the rise of a new "Industry Standard" caterers and event professionals have adapted how they run their businesses to adapt to smaller teams, more demand, and increasing customer expectations. In order to attract and retain skilled and reliable workers for their businesses, new desires for flexibility, higher wages, and career growth in the hourly workforce must be considered.
In this session, attendees will hear from a panel of seasoned events experts about what they've learned in the past year about new standards in the industry, how they've leveraged flexible staff and other technology to streamline operations while maintaining a high standard of service, and what other changes the busy events season of 2023 may bring.
