Emergency planning is the intended response to an unexpected, severe, and dangerous occurrence and knowing how to keep everyone safe is vital. Emergency planning may involve preparing for natural or man-made disasters, accidents, security breaches, terrorism, medical emergencies, and more. All special event coordinators, vendors, and volunteers must be aware of the potential risks and catastrophes that could occur at your outdoor event. In addition to unexpected weather, medical incidents, lost parents, other serious situations can occur. Having an Emergency & Safety Plan in place, along with designated responsibilities, ongoing training, proper planning, and preparation, is essential to turn a potentially negative situation into a well-coordinated outcome, minimize its impact, and ensure a safe event for everyone.
