Event professionals are in the business of emotions. From calming down a client before they walk down the aisle to easing a CEO's worries about an upcoming fundraiser, it often seems like "emotional support" is part of your job description. But what happens when the job begins to bring on overwhelming emotions? For highly sensitive people (HSPs) and empaths who carry others' pain and feel deeply, a career in the event space can feel downright draining. Leah Weinberg shares her own experience as an empathic and highly sensitive event planner, offering personal anecdotes and advice to remind fellow HSPs and empaths that their feelings are valid — and how to turn sensitivity into a coveted superpower in the industry. She'll speak to the power of effective communication and how it ties into healthy boundaries around one's emotional well-being.
