Ann Taghikhani, Senior Director, University Events, Marquette University
Ann Taghikhani is Senior Director of the University Special Events Office at Marquette University. Marquette University is a Catholic, Jesuit university located near the heart of downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a student population of more than 11,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students with all states and 72 countries represented. Ann joined the University Special Events team at Marquette 25 years ago and has held several event planning positions within the department before being appointed director in 2001 and recently to senior director. She leads a team of five event planners and two office associates, and is responsible for more than 200 high-profile events each year. Ann’s event experience spans from planning an intimate donor relations dinner meeting to leading the planning of a nationally-televised presidential debate on campus, which resulted in her receiving the Award of Excellence given by the JAA Association. Other events include planning for campus-based forums to externally-focused community engagement initiatives. Ann measures a successful event, regardless of its size, by the positive experience the university’s guests remember long after the occasion.
