    In the compass of the catering world, Bill Hansen stands out as a legend in the field. With over 45 years of catering, entrepreneurial and food service management, Bill's perspective and judgment stem from unsurpassed experience. He's catered for four U.S. Presidents, Pope John Paul II, and champion Super Bowl teams. He's written books on catering, taught catering management, and spoken at leading catering conferences. His expertise is unmatched.

    As a published author and entrepreneur, Bill's prowess has made him one of the country's leading food experts and Founder and CEO of one of South Florida's top catering firms. His experience has also resulted in a newfound passion for helping other entrepreneurs develop and market new products and services.

    A graduate of Cornell's world famous School of Hotel Administration, Bill later earned a Masters of Science from Florida International University's School of Hospitality Management. Right out of Cornell, Bill was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country running hotels for military officers — Officers' Clubs and Bachelor Officers' Quarters, specifically. He learned systems and procedures while dealing with the crème de la crème of the military world, and oversaw the work of over 180 staffers before he reached his 25th birthday.

    Then, in 1980, he founded Bills' Catering with his best friend Bill Hendrich (a company that has since evolved into Bill Hansen Catering). Since 1990, Bill has taught Catering Management at Florida International University, and at the end of each semester, his students plan and produce their own event to raise money for charity.

    After 36 years, Bill's firm continues to prosper, while spawning scores of South Florida caterers along the way (many run by former employees and students). Ask Bill about the key to his success, and he'll say it's his belief in training, empowering, and delegating to his key staffers. There's not a catering firm in South Florida that doesn't have a connection to Bill Hansen, and he welcomes the competition!!

    Ever expanding and evolving with the times, Bill's business has included Private Club Management, Concession Management, Mobile Foodservice Management and Academic Dining Management. He is also the author of Off-Premise Catering Management, which is currently in its second edition, and often known as used the 'catering bible' in the U.S. and overseas. He and fellow caterer Bill Pannoff also wrote The Perfect Fit…Leadership and Management for Catering Entrepreneurs.

    In addition to catering, Bill stays busy with philanthropic pursuits. He's served on The Founder's Board at Mt. Sinai Hospital on Miami Beach; the board of the South Florida chapter of the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurism; and the board of His House Children's' Home. He's currently on the University of Miami Citizen's Board, serves as a pillar member of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, and is five-year member of BNI (Business Networking International), where he was voted Member of the Year for two of his five years. He also actively participates in his church, the Christian Community Foundation of South Florida.

    An engaging and in-demand speaker at catering conferences, including Catersource (which meets annual in Las Vegas), Bill has imparted his wisdom to thousands of others in his field. He also writes a monthly column for Catersource e-magazine, and is an esteemed member of the Catersource Consulting team and the Catersource Advisory Board.

    Speaking to his expertise, Bill is frequently engaged as an expert witness for foodservice and hospitality legal disputes, and is currently on retainer for two attorneys, one plaintiff, one defense. He's worked on major cases against Costco and American Airlines.

    Bill is a devoted family man, and has been married to his wife Terry for more than 33 years. They have a son Jim, who lives in Oxford, Connecticut, with his wife Joette. Bill works out daily, loves to golf, and completed the New York Marathon in 1982 at the four-hour mark.

    At 71 years young, Bill continues to rise in the catering world because his passion for life, family, and business shines through. Catering is in his blood, and he loves to consult, write, speak, and mentor. After a lifetime of achievement, he's eager to help others find their own path to success.
